I'm very sorry to hear this.
My thoughts are with Zinzi's keepers, his lion family and with Inkosi

So sad to hear about Zinzi. What a shame you had to loose him at such a young age.

What sad news! So glad to have met Zinzi & the pride when both my husband & i did the "meet the lions" tour. He was only 8 mths old at the time but so cute. You're at peace now in cat heaven & playing with dad, Levi. RIP Zinzi.

Such a brave and heart-wrenching decision to have been forced to make, especially after the loss of Levi. May peace come to Inkosi, the rest of the pride and the keepers and vets as Zinzi now has peace and no more pain.

Oh that was such a sad turn of events for Zinzi, but the main thing is that the beautiful beast is in no more pain. Feel for the others in the pride and for all zookeepers who would have grown close. RIP zinzi

I'm going to miss seeing his beautiful face when doing the tours. My thoughts are with those amazing keepers and Anna who has spent so much time up close with him. A truly sad time ahead.

The keepers and Veterinary staff should be proud they did everything possible to help Zinzi. The decision to put Zinzi to sleep would have been heart breaking, yet it was the right choice to make. The remaining members of the Monarto lion pride are lucky to have such dedicated staff who always put the needs of the animals first. Zinzi helped educate visitors to Monarto about the plight of wild lions- this is his legacy, which will be carried on by the ret of the Monarto lion pride.
