Wombat Surveys

Conservation and agriculture working hand-in-hand

We need your input on Southern Hairy-nosed Wombats. Whether you live in Adelaide or are a land owner or resident in the regional areas of South Australia, we want to hear from you! Please assist us by filling out our confidential surveys on southern hairy-nosed wombats which include questions relating to:

  1. Current distribution
  2. Movements
  3. Regional areas of occupancy
  4. Local abundance
  5. Conflict situations
  6. Management actions
  7. Effectiveness of management
  8. Public views and knowledge of the species

The knowledge we gain from the public will help us to further understand the perception of southern hairy-nosed wombats in both the metropolitan and regional communities, and also the issues faced by local landowners, managers and residents in agricultural regions.

Together we can make more informed management decisions and establish effective management action to enable co-existence between the southern hairy-nosed wombat and the agricultural sector whilst ensuring the long term conservation of this iconic species.
