Planning a Visit / How to Book

To receive the special “Education” discount you must book your visit with AZES at least 1 week before your visit by phoning the Adelaide Zoo Education Service on tel. (08) 8267 2434. Unfortunately, we can not take any bookings within one week of a visit and full admission prices would be charged. See Prices and Free Adult ratios.

Bookings are essential for all visits, with or without an Education Officer.

When contacting the AZES to make a booking please have the following information available:

• Date(s) of your visit
• Estimated arrival and departure times
• Year level(s) and number of students
• Contact teachers name
• Curriculum areas covered
• Programs or facilities you wish to access.

At the time of booking a visit you will be informed of the: 

• Education admission charges
• Free adult ratio. See Prices and Free Adult ratios
• Payment details (payment is to be made on the day)
• Process for accessing an Education Officer lesson

A preliminary Tax Invoice and confirmation of your visit will be faxed to you once the booking has been made. Please organise your school bursar/finance officer to have a cheque written prior to your visit as payment must be made on the day. Often final numbers of students are different from the number of the preliminary Tax invoice or provided on the cheque. Gate staff can make adjustments, give change and give a correct Tax Invoice on the day.

All groups booked through the AZES for a self-guided visit will be met at the gate by an Education Officer and given a 10-minute introduction. This is also an opportunity for students to ask questions.

If you are planning a self-guided visit and do not require any further assistance from the Education staff on the day, the "Preliminary Booking" form below may be filled out and sent back to us.

Please note: Completion of this form does not constitute a booking.  The AZES will fax confirmation to your school to formalise the booking process.  Please read through this information carefully and note booking times that have been arranged for you.

Your booking will only be confirmed when you receive something in writing from AZES. We will attempt to meet your group at the Zoo entrance for an Introduction. Details will be included in your written confirmation.
