Monarto Zoo is an open range zoo located on 1000ha of mallee scrub and former farmland. Access around the site is by bus (the group’s booked bus or a Monarto bus for very small groups.) At Monarto there is considerable scope for hands-on community service programs as well as a range of leadership development, research and other outdoor educational programs.

Monarto Zoo Education offers educational experiences for preschool, school and some tertiary groups as well as the general public. It also provides educational resources to support visits by education groups.

Education Officers at Monarto Zoological Park are qualified, widely experienced teachers with expertise in Junior Primary, Primary and Secondary levels of schooling and in Environmental Education.

PROGRAMS WITH EDUCATION OFFICERS
Bookings for programs run by an Education Officer or other Zoo staff must be negotiated with Education Staff. With high demand and a small Education staff, teachers need to be flexible with dates and to book well in advance.

EXCURSIONS WITHOUT AN EDUCATION OFFICER
Bookings for excursions involving Safari Bus tours, walking tracks and viewing platforms are organized through the Tours Desk. Ring 85344100. These excursions can be supported by Online Resources.
