Together in 2011, we have made a HUGE difference to the lives of animals and people in the wild. We thank the Schools, Individuals and Organisations that have gone out of their way to take action – we think you ROCK!!!!

The MAD Tally for 2011

MAD for Rhinos 
Total number of beaded items sold: 4,302
Total money collected: $30,115.10
What that has supported:
8 ½ weeks of wages has been paid to the 150 women involved in beadwork from Sera Conservancy. The average family size is seven, meaning this income is providing food, health and education to approximately 1050 people, AND
10 ½ weeks of wages and life insurance has been paid to the 33 Rangers involved in 24 hr armed protection of the Sera Conservancy. They are ensuring the survival of Africa’s endangered wildlife, which will include a herd of 20 Black Rhinos when they are re-introduced into the area.

MAD for Chimps 
Total number of phones collected: 264
Total money collected: $528.00
What that has supported: rehabilitation and protection of orphaned chimps due to the illegal mining of coltan

MAD for Carnivores
Total money collected: $781.55
What that has supported: 52 students with one full day of conservation education in Zambia and Zimbabwe

PLUS for every school that stays overnight at Monarto a portion of the program fee is donated to conservation education opportunities for students in Zimbabwe and Zambia. Collectively the Junior Keepers, Rangers and Conservation Leaders of 2011 have donated $6665.00 empowering 444 African students with one full day of conservation education - INCREDIBLE!!
