< BackPanda Float Launched
MEDIA RELEASE
Creative director and event manager of the Credit Union Christmas Pageant, Brian Gilbertson, said this is the first time in the long running history of the Credit Union Christmas Pageant that such a tribute has been bestowed.
“With a bright, typically quintessential Australian summer design the Wang Wang and Funi float will be a fabulous addition to this year’s float line up,” said Brian Gilbertson.
Arriving in the middle of warmer weather, it’s only fitting that the new Panda float will see Wang Wang and Funi enjoy a typical Australian summer with a day at the beach - one panda catching waves and the other seeking shelter from the hot sun under a colourful beach umbrella.
Chair of the Credit Union Pageant Company, Peter Evers, said, “The addition of Wang Wang and Funi to the Pageant is a great honour, as they too bring so much happiness to the wider community. The Credit Union Christmas Pageant is all about inclusion and sharing the magic with everyone, so it seemed only fitting to have Wang Wang and Funi involved.
“This is an important partnership for the iconic South Australian event as the Giant Pandas – our newly adopted State icons - will be a part of the Credit Union Christmas Pageant for the next ten years,” Evers said.
President of Zoos South Australia, Heather Caddick, said, "We love the concept of the Wang Wang and Funi float and value the partnership that has been created with the Credit Unions and the South Australian Tourism Commission through this project.”
“There is a magical link between children, pandas and the Credit Union Christmas Pageant, and a Panda float will add to the excitement of children being able to view 'Wang Wang’ and 'Funi’ around Christmas time,” Caddick said.
The Credit Union Christmas Pageant is owned and managed by the South Australian Tourism Commission on behalf of the South Australian Government and sponsored by six leading credit unions in South Australia - Savings & Loans, Australian Central, Community CPS Australia, Police, Powerstate, and Satisfac.
