< BackZoos South Australia Back Jennifer Croes
MEDIA RELEASE
Zoos South Australia is proud to support Jennifer Croes, Australian representative for the Chengdu Panda Base and Research Facility’s competition to become a ‘Global Panda Ambassador’.
Ms Croes is one of twelve representatives from across the globe who will fly to China this Tuesday to face an expert panel of judges from the Chengdu Panda Base.
Six of the twelve contenders will be chosen to spend one month working at Chengdu learning all about panda conservation, something which Adelaide Zoo Senior Panda Keeper, Simone Davey experienced in 2009.
“Training at the Chengdu Panda Base and being a panda keeper has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and I wish Jennifer all the best as the Australian representative in this competition.
“The conservation of Giant pandas and their habitat is a critical issue so it’s great to see this becoming an international focus and one which Australian’s are a part of,” said Mrs Davey.
Ms Croes has a strong background in conservation having been involved in biodiversity and community based conservation while working with a variety of animals from pumas to orangutans.
As the National Project Manager for ‘Earth Hour’ in 2010, of which Wang Wang and Funi were ambassadors, she is looking forward to meeting them upon her return from China.
“I want to bring conservation and sustainable living into our homes to ensure that life of all shapes and sizes keep their homes; our forests, land, seas and skies,” said Ms Croes.
Ms Croes will spend one week in Chengdu with the other twelve contestants before appearing live on Chinese TV in the coming week where the final six will be announced.
