Photos: Karta enjoying her birthday presents last year
Kluet and Karta, our beautiful Sumatran Orangutans, both have a birthday coming up and it’s time to celebrate!
We have some nice surprises in store for them with 3 days of festivity. Kluet is having his birthday first and he will be turning 16 this coming Monday, 18th July. Karta has her birthday a few days later on Friday 22nd July and she will be turning 29 years old.
We have arranged a few presents for them both on Monday and Friday but we are planning a big combined birthday party for them both next Saturday.
Every day during the school holidays, the orangutan keepers are giving a public presentation at 1.30pm. On Saturday 23rd July we will give Karta and Kluet their presents at this talk. We would love for you to join us in the celebrations and come and watch them open their presents and enjoy their birthday “cake”.
Of course, if you want to get even closer to the orangutans you can join the Ape It Up behind the scenes tour where you can assist the orangutan keeper in feeding out breakfast and other tasty treats.
