< BackThe Chimp Girls Arrive
Thursday, October 14, 2010 2:06pm
Singapore Airlines made a special detour to Adelaide on 2nd October to deliver four new chimpanzees. The new arrivals - 11-year-olds Zwala, Galatea and Soona and 16-year-old Zombi – must spend 30-40 days in quarantine at Adelaide Zoo before they travel up to Monarto.
Part of the international breeding program , once the females are settled there will be a series of carefully managed steps for introductions with our males - Tsotsi, originally from Adelaide Zoo, Sandali from Taronga Zoo and Gombe and Boyde from Wellington Zoo.
The four new chimp girls are expected to go on public display in early to mid-November.
