It's Panda Day!
It’s Panda Day at Adelaide Zoo today, with Wang Wang and Funi introduced for breeding purposes. The introductions are taking place in the off-limits area where the Giant Pandas can be closely monitored. The panda exhibit will remain closed during this time as it is important there is minimal disturbance to the pair.
It is an exciting time for staff and volunteers, and Zoos SA is proud to be part of the international effort to save the Giant Panda from extinction. We would like to thank our members and the public for their support during this crucial stage of the breeding program and encourage people to continue to visit the zoo so they can enjoy and learn about many other endangered species .
So far the pandas have showed very positive behaviour but there’s been no actual mating. We’ll keep introducing Wang Wang and Funi together over the next few days so stay tuned for further exciting updates!

The pandas were off exhibit for 5 days and are now back on public display. I hope you enjoy hanging out with Wang Wang and Funi!
