Waste Management Changes
There have been a few changes to the waste management arrangements recently. It has been a few weeks since the changes were made and so far there do not appear to be any major problems. There may be some slight changes to improve the recovery rate of recyclable material.
March brings us the third month of our waste management reporting system. Stats show an increase in deposition to landfill for March over February (up by three tonnes) however there has also been a marginal percentage increase in the proportion of recovered material, the offset. Total waste volumes were up, with the largest increase being organics - up by nearly five tonnes.
It seems that most of our landfill comes from the public areas and restaurant facilities. Ways of increasing recoverable material from these areas are currently being looked into.
