On the 27 August, 2 male Chimpanzees (Boyd and Gombe) from Wellington Zoo joined our 2 boys at Monarto Zoo. They are currently in quarantine in the Chimpanzee House, and getting to know Sandali and Tsotsi while doing quarantine.  This is going above all expectations according to the keepers.

On the 15th September, the animals are being tested for TB as part of conditions of import. Once released from Quarantine, and once all the chimps are ready to coexist, Boyd and Gombe will venture into the new exhibit.

We will then prepare for the arrival of 4 females from Burgers  Zoo in Holland, which will give us a group of 8
. Timing of this arrival is yet to be finalised,  as it is important that the male group is cohesive first. There are also quarantine preparations in Burger Zoo to be completed first.

Excellent start! Great to learn that Boyd and Gombe are getting along with Sandali & Tsotsi. Hopefully these 4 boys bond well and when the 4 girls get there from the rainy Holland, they all going to have a long sunny life together. Good luck to a successful introduction! - Mike
