Monarto Zoo, Photography by Geoff Brooks

Monarto Zoo, a 1000-hectare ‘Conservation ark’ 70 kilometers from Adelaide, is Australia’s largest open-range wildlife sanctuary. This book of stunning photographs celebrates a day in the life of Monarto, taking us up close and personal with some the world’s most extraordinary animals, including rare and endangered species.

Photographer Geoff Brooks, Monarto’s projects manager, is rarely seen at work without his camera as he wanders his vast ‘office’.

The book revolves around a typical day at the Park. It is an insiders look at Australia’s largest zoo, yet it is not just a group of generic shots. This book is different to others as it has a genuine connection for people, For staff, these are the animals we work with, for the vollies, these are the animals they spread the conservation message about, and for our visitors it is something they can take away knowing that these are the animals that they are likely to have seen here on the day of their visit. I have seen the Park as a visitor, volunteer and staff member and have seen and photographed some fantastic things in my time here. I have been here since 1997.
