We have a responsibility and a need to support all wildlife.

Australian zoos – including Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Safari Park – are global leaders in the ethical treatment of animals, but it’s no secret there are places in the world where welfare is not a top priority.

Sadly, poor animal welfare still exists; some overseas facilities are under-resourced or lack knowledge of the latest animal welfare science. To be frank, they just aren’t meeting their animals’ needs.

That’s why Zoos SA and a collection of other like-minded zoos and organisations support ‘Wild Welfare’; the first captive wild animal welfare charity focused on uniting leading zoos and improving global welfare standards.

And with the ongoing support of visitors and members just like you, we are able to help make a difference to animals all over the world.

Bears

We don’t just care
about the animals at our sites.

Zoos SA’s support helped re-home four Japanese Bears living in small concrete cages. This two-year-long project saw the bears moved more than 5,000 miles from Japan to the UK.

The bears now live in a newly-built rehabilitation facility at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park that is two and a half acres.

The bears can now scratch their backs on trees, roll on soft ground for the first time, and explore acres of grassland.

But there are still potentially hundreds of bears and many other animals across the globe who deserve better care.

Your financial donation, no matter how large or small, will help us help our partners improve animal welfare all around the world.

All animals around the world deserve to live free from pain and discomfort and experience the best care possible.

Please support Zoos SA today and get wild about welfare!
