The Board plays a vital part in overseeing the affairs of the Society and setting the strategic directions for Zoos SA.

Nominations are now sought from interested and suitably qualified members to fill two (2) Board positions that will become vacant as at the Annual General Meeting to be held on Thursday 19 November 2020.

In accordance with the Rules of the Society (available for perusal on our website ( the current terms on the Board of Prof Tilt and Dr Robinson conclude this year, but they are eligible for re-election.  The Board aims to achieve a balance of skills and experience and are very pleased with the make-up of the current Board.   If there were any additional skills of interest for the future it would be engaging and influencing in the age of short attention spans, engaging with intergenerational communities and driving tourism success.

Nominations for the position of Elected Board Member must be accompanied by a written curriculum vitae, a colour photograph suitable for publication, an application letter of no more than two hundred and fifty words to be provided either electronically or in hard copy along with a signed Society proforma statement acknowledging any real or perceived conflict of interest that could affect the candidate’s ability to perform his or her duties as a Board Member.   Nominees must be at least 18 years of age and have been a continuous financial member of the Society for no less than 12 months as at the 31 August 2020.

Closing date for nominations is 5.00pm on 31 August 2020. 



Members are advised that the Annual General Meeting of the Royal Zoological Society of South Australia Inc. will be held in the Fig Tree Function Centre at the Adelaide Zoo on Thursday, 19 November 2020.  The event will be held at 6.30pm with the AGM commencing at 7.00pm sharp.  Special presentations from key Zoos SA personnel will also be included.

The Annual Report including the 2020 audited financial reports will be available for download from the Zoos SA website ( as of Thursday, 5 November.  Hard copies will be available on request from that date.
