  1. Be a current Zoos SA Member aged 16 years or over.
  2. Capture your best photo at Adelaide Zoo or Monarto Safari Park.
  3. Make sure your image is high quality and suitable for print.
  4. Upload your entry via our online entry form before 11.59pm (ACST), Monday 31 August 2026.
  5. You can submit up to 10 photographs, with one photo per entry.

It’s that simple!

  • Images must be original and taken by the entrant.
  • Photos must have been taken at Adelaide Zoo or Monarto Safari Park between 1 June 2025 and 30 August 2026.
  • Images must be high resolution (minimum 300 dpi) and suitable for print.
  • AI-generated, computer-generated or synthetically created images will not be accepted.
  • Images with watermarks, logos or identifying marks will be disqualified.
  • Minor edits such as cropping, exposure and colour correction are acceptable, but images that substantially alter, add or remove elements may be disqualified.
  • Colour images only.
  • Put animal welfare first – Allow animals to behave naturally and always follow keeper instructions and zoo guidelines.
  • Shoot in landscape – Th12e annual Zoos SA calendar is produced in a landscape format. When taking your photo, try to shoot in landscape (horizontal) orientation
  • Be patient – Great wildlife photography often comes from waiting for the right moment.
  • Visit a Keeper Talk – Learn more about your favourite animals and their behaviours to help capture unique moments.
  • Think about composition – Use natural framing, interesting angles and the rule of thirds to create eye-catching images.
  • Tell a story – The best photos capture a moment, a behaviour or a connection that makes people stop and look.

General

  1. Competition Name: Member’s Only Photo Competition – Share Your Wild Moments
  2. Promoter: The Royal Zoological Society of South Australia Inc. (Zoos SA), ABN 38 750 470 952.
  3. Competition Opens: Saturday 1 August 2026
  4. Competition Closes: Monday 31 August 2026 at 11.59pm (ACST)
  5. Judging Period: Tuesday 1 September 2026 to Monday 14 September 2026
  6. Winner Announcement: Tuesday 22 September 2026
  7. Eligibility: Entry is open to current Zoos SA Members aged 16 years and over who are Australian residents.
  8. Employees of Zoos SA, its Board members, contractors directly involved in the administration of this competition, and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.

How to Enter

Entrants must submit their photographs via the official competition Jotform link provided by Zoos SA.

  1. Images must be submitted in JPEG or HEIF format.
  2. Maximum file size is 1GB per image.
  3. Each eligible entrant may submit up to 10 photographs.
  4. Entries must be original works created and owned by the entrant.

Any entry found to infringe copyright or submitted by someone other than the photographer will be disqualified.

Judging & Prizes

Entries will be judged by a panel of Zoos SA staff based on creativity, photographic quality, and how well they capture the spirit of Zoos SA and the theme Share Your Wild Moments.

Judging is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

2027 Member Calendar

In addition to the major prizes, 12 outstanding photographs will be selected for inclusion in the exclusive 2027 Zoos SA Member Calendar. Selection for the calendar does not exclude entrants from winning a major prize.

Please note that animal experiences are subject to availability at the time of redemption. Winners will receive a voucher valid for up to 36 months. If a selected experience is unavailable, Zoos SA may substitute an experience of equal or greater value. Prizes are not transferable or redeemable for cash.

Image Requirements

  1. Images must be original photographs taken by the entrant.
  2. Photographs must have been taken between 1 June 2025 and 30 August 2026.
  3. Images must be suitable for professional print reproduction and supplied at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
  4. Screenshots or low-resolution images will not be accepted.
  5. Images must be in colour.
  6. AI-generated, computer-generated, or synthetically created images are not permitted.
  7. Watermarks, logos, borders or identifying marks must not appear on submitted images.
  8. Minor edits such as cropping, exposure, colour correction and sharpening are permitted. Images that substantially alter, add or remove elements from the original photograph may be disqualified.

Copyright & Usage Rights

By entering the competition, entrants confirm they are the original creator and copyright holder of each submitted photograph.

Entrants grant the Royal Zoological Society of South Australia Inc. (Zoos SA) a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, publish, edit and display submitted photographs for marketing, promotional, educational and editorial purposes across print, digital, social media and other promotional channels.

Entrants retain copyright ownership of their images.

Zoos SA will endeavour to credit photographers wherever reasonably practicable, however credit cannot be guaranteed in every instance.

Notification of Winners

Prize winners will be contacted via the phone number and/or email address supplied with their entry.

Winning photographers and selected calendar photographers may be announced on the Zoos SA website, social media channels and other promotional material.

Winners may be invited to participate in promotional photography or media activities related to the competition.

Limitation of Liability

Zoos SA accepts no responsibility for lost, late, incomplete, corrupted or misdirected entries due to technical issues or any other reason beyond its reasonable control.

To the extent permitted by law, Zoos SA is not liable for any injury, loss or damage suffered as a result of entering the competition or accepting or using a prize.

Privacy

Personal information collected during the competition will be used solely for administering the competition, contacting entrants where required, and announcing winners.

Personal information will be managed in accordance with Zoos SA’s Privacy Policy, available at zoossa.com.au/privacy.
