This book aimed at primary school aged children is all about Australia’s rare Pygmy Bluetongue Lizards, considered extinct until recently when they were rediscovered near Burra in South Australia in 1992. These small native lizards have the unusual habit of living down spider holes. Most of the lizards are found on farms in small isolated populations and working with the landholders to manage these precious populations is key to safeguarding the species. Zoos SA is trialing captive breeding and release for the species.
A great educational and fun book on a little Aussie Icon.
