Ambassador July Report

I had an incredible time in my first Ambassador shift, where I was thrown in to awesome hands on work in the Nursery. The first task we tackled was cleaning out the goat’s behind the scene rest area, which involved getting stuck straight into messy hands on cleanup. We then proceeded to complete other jobs around the place, including talking with the public about our roles. It was an awesome opportunity to share with them our passion! We moved through many areas, like the bettongs and tawny frog mouths, as well as cleaning up Scarlett, the baby roo’s, enclosure. Although with Scarlett, our productivity was frequently interrupted by her inquisitive exploration of our tools, and affectionate cuddles. It was highly memorable and I was able to begin memorising the many names of all the goats, deer and other animals.

Charlize and I then tackled clearing a mulch pile that we were told we could leave if we wanted because it was hard to clear. I was so inspired by Charlize’s constant determination to keep everything to a keeper standard, and after an hour of strenuous shovelling we moved this solid pile of dirt. Then during the lunch break I was rewarded with cuddles with Kinta the quokka, who refused to leave my lap! It was an awesome day, and thank you so much to Karen for showing me the ropes!!
