Ambassador June Report

Waking up early, a rush of excitement washes over me because it’s the day.

It’s the day I will yet again walk up the paths of greenery and take the quiet bus of the morning.

The fresh cool and thin air, the sound of crisping leaves. With each step, I look up at the beautiful canopies of leaves that hang by where a bird would sit or if you’re fortunate, a possum that warily watches you from down below. Entering the zoo, you are greeted with the warmest of smiles of keepers and friends – you feel comfortable and warm despite the chilling breeze.

The experienced teach you the ways of things and because of them, you gain confidence and relief for their great encouragements. Some tasks required resilience, sweat and determination but seeing the work done wonderfully together, going the extra mile – a sense of proudness comes over. “We did that.”
After hardwork comes rewards. The reward to sit in the quiet with quokkas, the reward to be able to cradle the soft gliders in your arms, to feed the bettong on her good day and finally, to be greeted a goodbye from a panda on the tree.

Thank you to everyone I worked with – every one of you has been amazing working with, you all make everything feel like I can do it forever because you’re there and you make work fun
