Introducing Tisamale

In just over two months, our seven MATZ (Mentors at the Zoo) will head off for a real, immersive conservation experience in Zambia with one of our Conservation Partnerships – Chipembele Wildlife Education Trust. These seven conservation uni and honours students are part of a two-year intensive program that culminates in an Australian-Zambian Exchange, similar to the one held back in 2013/14. This exchange is called Tisamale Global Exchange. Tisamale means ‘conserve’ in the local language of Zambia.

Tisamale sees Zoos SA and Chipembele working in partnership investing in 75 young conservation leaders on a global scale in 2018/2019. Tisamale Zambia will see MATZ in Zambia for three weeks in July 2018 – hosted by 28 Chipembele Conservation Club students. Tisamale Australia will see 14 Zambian Chipembele Conservation Club students hosted in Adelaide by our 47 YATZ and MATZ tribe in April/May 2019.

Samson, one of the Mentors of the Chipembele Conservation Club students, who was a participant on the last Zoos SA conservation exchange, has just completed a sponsored Cinematography course in South Africa. To live his dream to become a wildlife film maker, he is practicing his new skill set to share what is happening over in Zambia as 28 students come to the end of their intensive 3 month challenge to win the ultimate spot – a conservation exchange trip to Australia.

We are part of something big here…..
