During our first workshop at Adelaide Zoo, our final activity for the day was the ‘Soft Plastics Fashion Show’. As all the YATZ members split off into four groups, the task of this activity was to create a beautiful item of clothing constructed from up-cycled soft plastic materials for each of our MATZ to wear, and boy, did we deliver. With an assortment of materials to choose from ranging from popcorn packets, shopping bags, bubble wrap, lollie rappers, garbage bags and many more, by the end of the day our MATZ were a serious threat to many professional supermodels around.
To set the scene for the fashion show we made room for the runway in which our four dazzling supermodels would strut down, as well as played the song ‘I’m Sexy and I know It’ by LMFAO. When it came time for our models to show off their phenomenal outfits the atmosphere of the room was buzzing with excitement as well as immense laughter. Not only was it a truly fun and memorable way to finish off our first workshop, but it was also an informative way to show how much soft plastic is thrown away and wasted.
Thanks Parris, Mollie, Dylan and Zoe for sacrificing to be our models, and for making us laugh so much.
