We all gathered around to learn from the Park Ranger at Innes National Park the difference between two plants – one a coastal native, the other and the quick-growing, and recasting weed; Polygala. Our job was simple: find and identify the weed and remove it. We all grabbed gloves and loppers, dressed in Hi-Vis and split into groups, heading out to varying locations around Stenhouse Bay. The tedious task of removing the weeds was counteracted with chatter amongst our groups as we all got to know each other better. After our time was up, we looked around in satisfaction at the up-turned weeds we had removed around the place. Big or small, we all played a part in helping the Innes National Park vegetation revert to its natural state.
