Tisamale has exceeded my expectations time and time again during this amazing exchange.
However, like all ambitious and extraordinary things it wasn’t without its challenges. Of course, there was the initial challenge we set for ourselves which was to get 14 young conservationist all the way from Zambia to Australia. Involving countless campaigning hours, presentations, and preparation for their program. Although it was hard work, it made it even more exciting for when they finally landed in Australia.
One challenge that I found apparent yet not as overwhelming as I originally thought was the culture difference between the Zambians and our YATZ. I was mainly worried about how well they would get along being from two places which were so different. However, I was surprised at how these two groups integrated. There was that initial awkwardness at the start which is to be expected but within a matter of seconds all the YATZ and Zambian were holding hands, playing soccer, and sharing stories.
Everything in life comes with its challenges there’s no denying that, but at the end of the day its about what you learn from these challenges that’s important.
