On the 28th of April, the YATZ, MATZ and Dingoes met up at Belair National Park. We formed a giant circle, where we exchanged dance moves and songs.
After a Q and A session with the CFS, we split into two groups were we explored different aspects of the work that the CFS do – One had a tour of the firetruck and the others got to try on the firefighting suits. The two groups went head to head in a race where we had to knock over a cone using the firefighting hose. This gave us first-hand experience on what it is like to be a CFS volunteer.
In our down time we taught the dingoes how to kick an Australian football and introduced them to the popular game of ‘Marks Up’.
We then traveled to Cleland Wildlife Park, where we saw many Australian native animals. Along the way, we were constantly spotting potoroos, which were repeatedly seen scurrying around. It was also great to visit the dingoes, which enabled the Dingoes (Zambian students) to see, in real life, what they had been named after. Overall, the day was a great way to bond further with the Dingoes, and it revealed that the two families, YATZ/MATZ and Dingoes, had become one.
