In a 45 minute learning experience with a Zoo educator, students explore animal structural, psychological and behavioural adaptations for survival in the wild. Students compare animal behaviour in the wild and in captivity. Students consider the design of animal enclosures at the zoo and the needs of different animal species. Ethical issues are discussed with a focus on the role of Zoos and animal welfare.

Combine this session with a self-directed learning activity on Animal behaviour in captivity and in the wild.
