Youth at the Zoo (YATZ) is a program designed for students in Year 9 to Year 12 with a passion for conservation and looking towards a future working with animals and conserving wildlife. YATZ aims to inspire and develop leadership skills, promote conservation locally and globally, while providing a strong youth perspective to the Zoos SA community.

The program immerses young people in experiences relating to animal and conservation leadership skills through camps, workshops and hands-on activities.


Our mid-year 2019 YATZ intake is now open for applications. Applications are due in by 5pm Friday 5th July.

Successful applicants need to be available to attend two Introductory events:
Adelaide Zoo: Overnight camp Monday 15th July
Monarto Zoo: Day program Friday 19th July (9am – 5pm)
