Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Safari Park are home to some of the most endangered cat species in the world, we work with conservation partners across Australia and around the world to support insurance population breeding and research, and of course protect the remaining wild populations which are facing decline due to habitat destruction, poaching and the illegal pet trade.
The three Sumatran Tiger cubs born in late 2022 are a big step in conservation of their species and your support as a club member will help us to care for them and the cubs yet to come from all our big cat species.

Critically Endangered
With as little as 400 Sumatran Tigers remaining in the wild, your help is needed now to support conservation efforts in Sumatra, Indonesia and the vital insurance populations in partner zoos around the world. The three cubs born at Adelaide Zoo in late 2022 will go on to become part of this global insurance population, and we hope that the zoo and the wild will be home to many more tiger cubs in the future.
Vulnerable to Extinction
The world’s fastest animal is also racing towards extinction with declining wild population numbers, they are now considered Africa’s most endangered big cat species. With your support, we’re building the Cheetah a new 50+ acre habitat at the park to continue the breeding program, and investing in wild populations through on the ground local support.

Listed by the IUCN as vulnerable, the king of the jungle is marked as critically endangered in some African regions with habitat loss being one of the largest contributors to the population decline. Monarto Safari Park is home to largest pride of lions in Australia, and we work with carnivore conservation specialists in Zambia and other regions of Africa.
