Support the Fire Horse of 2026!

Lunar New Year falls on 17 February 2026, marking the first new moon of the lunar calendar and the Year of the Fire Horse!

The fire horse is a symbol of strength, resilience, independence, and transformation, all qualities shared by one of Monarto Safari Park’s incredible residents, the Przewalski’s Horse.

Join us in supporting the future of the world’s only remaining wild horse by symbolically adopting the Przewalski’s Horse with a tax-deductible donation

Once extinct in the wild!

Przewalski’s Horses were once classified as extinct in the wild.
However, in 1995, Monarto Safari Park helped reintroduce seven horses to Takhi Tal Nature Reserve in Mongolia, allowing them to form breeding herds. By 2008, their status was downgraded from extinct to critically endangered.

The Przewalski’s Horse is an ancient breed that survived the last ice age alongside Woolly Mammoths and Sabre-tooth Tigers. They’ve managed to survive massive climate change which has wiped out other species

Over time, the pure Przewalski’s bloodline can be bred out of wild populations through interbreeding with feral horses, making the pure population at Monarto Safari Park crucial to the global conservation of the species.

Help us safeguard a future for this ancient horse

The Przewalski’s Horse is classified as Endangered on the IUCN Red List, primarily due to habitat loss and the impacts of climate change.
