Monarto Safari Park Celebrates Double Win at the Tourism Awards

Monarto Safari Park is celebrating after winning two major awards at last night’s South Australian Tourism Awards, including the prestigious Major Tourist Attraction award and the Voter’s Choice award.

Zoos SA’s Chief Executive, Elaine Bensted, said it was fantastic to see the conservation charity recognised among the best in the business of South Australia’s tourism industry.

“We pride ourselves in going above and beyond to connect people with nature and create incredible experiences for people of all abilities, and are thrilled to be recognised with these awards.

“As the largest safari experience outside of Africa we offer people a unique experience that contributes to a bigger purpose, as every visit helps to save species from extinction,” said Elaine.

This is the first time Monarto Safari Park has received the Major Tourist Attraction and third time receiving the Voter’s Choice.

The Voter’s Choice award is voted by the South Australian public. Creating a wild experience that visitors are motivated to vote for is rewarding recognition for the whole Zoos SA team.

“It means a lot when our members and visitors think we’re the best.

“As a conservation charity, our important conservation work is made possible by members and visitors and we are so grateful for their continued support.”

There was more to celebrate with Monarto Safari Park also receiving Silver for the Excellence in Accessible Tourism award and Adelaide Zoo awarded Silver for the Cultural Tourism award.

“We are particularly proud to be leading the way in accessible tourism. From the moment visitors enter the new Visitor Centre to viewing platforms overlooking habitats, accessibility is at the forefront of design across the park.”

Monarto Safari Park will now progress to the Australian Tourism Awards to be held in Darwin in March 2024, and hope to follow in the footsteps of Adelaide Zoo who won the national Award last year for Major Tourism Attraction.

With exciting new experiences on the horizon, these awards cement Monarto Safari Park’s status as a major tourism drawcard for the state.

Awards:
WINNER: Major Tourist Attraction – Monarto Safari Park
WINNER: Voters’ Choice – Monarto Safari Park
SILVER: Excellence in Accessibility – Monarto Safari Park
SILVER: Cultural Tourism – Adelaide Zoo
