Recruitment Process

We seek to employ people who will enable the success of our goals, delivering on our purpose and aspiration whilst working in line with our values.

Our recruitment process has the following stages:

  • Shortlisting
  • Interviews
  • 2nd Interviews (on occasion)
  • Pre-Employment checks
    • Verification of licences and qualifications
    • Referees
    • Police Clearance
    • Medical & Functional Capacity
  • Formal Offer

 

Before preparing your application

Our adverts list the main selection criteria, whilst our job descriptions provide a detailed outline of responsibilities, skills, experience and knowledge being sought with essential and desirable criteria outlined.

Applicants are shortlisted to progress in the recruitment process based upon on how clearly they can demonstrate and fulfill the selection criteria for the role.   Applications need to outline examples that demonstrate your ability to meet the selection criteria. Some vacancies require a detailed application form to be completed. Prior to submitting your application please read the requirements for the application carefully, to ensure you have submitted all requirements and to provide yourself with the best opportunity for shortlisting and progressing in the recruitment process.

 

Preparing your application

Your application will need to include:

  • a cover letter (maximum of two pages),
  • resume (maximum four pages)

Interviews

Interviews will be conducted with a Selection panel of 3 members and will generally be between 30-45 minutes. Your interview may include:

  • Presentation – such as a Keeper Talk
  • Simulated work scenarios
  • Potential 2nd interview

 

Pre-Employment

Applicants who successfully proceed through the interview process will need to complete a few pre-employment checks prior to any offers of employment.   The types of pre-employment checks are:

  • Verification of licences and qualifications: copies of licenses or qualifications relevant to the role are to be provided at time of application or at interview.
  • Referees: two reference checks are to be completed, with one being from a direct reporting line with your current employer.
  • Police Clearance: National Police Clearance required that has been issued no more than 2 months prior to potential commencement date. This is at your expense as a potential candidate.
  • Medical & Functional Capacity: This is paid for by Zoos SA and is taken with our Occupational Therapists in North Adelaide. If you are interstate you will be required to attend our providers if you are successful to get through to this stage.
