As a part of YATZ, we were allowed to choose 2 areas of the zoo for our Discovery Program. This has allowed us to work alongside the keepers and help the with their daily tasks.
The two areas that I chose where the children’s zoo at Adelaide zoo and natives at Monarto Zoo. During my time in the native’s department on the 30th of October I assisted with food prep and cleaning. Simon, one of the keepers, set me up with a task in the morning to clean the Bilbies. There are four Bilbies and they are hoping to breed with them. After morning tea I spend the rest of my time with Tammy who took me out to the visitors center where I cleaned the Stick Insects, Meerkats and Porcupines.
