Monarto Safari Park Tisamale Meet and Greet

Muli bwanji,

As we all know, during the Monarto camp we set up and partook in the Tisamale meet and greet. This was a time to come together and recognise the outstanding contribution people behind the scenes had in making our dream a reality.

Before we knew it people had began to arrive and the once dusty and deserted plains of Monarto’s Indaba had been turned into an exotic place filled with an array of colourful flags. Looking back at this meet and greet I don’t really think I could find the words to convey the atmosphere and gratitude I felt.

I learnt some really snazzy handshakes, was able to create so many bonds with various people and at some points was ready to grab some tissues after listening to the speeches given. It’s surreal to think of all those times fundraising and campaigning for people who we had only seen on tiny pieces of paper come to life and finally meet them. It shows just how far we have come and I think the Tisamale meet and greet at Monarto was the perfect way to encapsulate what YATZ is all about.
